HOL, recently, has gone through some changes. It all started with the HOL Forum, which was upgraded to Invision Power Board 2.0, and the difference was very much apparent. It was, however, just one thing; albeit one big thing, but one thing nonetheless. That was the 22nd of January, 2005. And now, at the advent of the fifth year of HOL’s existence, it is clear that things have changed more than just an upgraded forum.
So, come and read of the changes that have taken place, accompanied by an interview with Professor Emerald Dybendahl, or Rames, who will give more information and insight into the process of changing and maintaining HOL. |

Diagon Alley - Early Sunday morning, as the sun peaked over the roof tops of downtown London, the friendly neighbour folk of Diagon Alley awoke to a startling surprise. Their typically peaceful neighbourhood had been disturbed, by the chatter of squirrels. In an unexplainable fit, squirrels had overrun Gringott's Wizarding Bank, and held it hostage for a period of over 12 hours. |

There are a few "traditions" in HOL that have been recently revived, one being the ever popular Summer Quidditch League. House players (known as professionals) team up with new players for a summer of fun competition. More than anything, it can be a learning experience for rookie players, some of which have never been on IRC prior to practices. The interest of quidditch attracted several new faces to IRC. Hopefully most of them will stay active on IRC. Even more importantly, the quidditch league confirms what HOL is all really about: making new friends and talking to people you wouldn't normally converse with. |

Dear Readers,
As HOL enters this new era of version 2.0, flocks of students gather in excitement to register for school, the forum, classes and join their houses. I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce The Pensieve as a bright new addition to the growing HOL community. The Pensieve takes it's place as the second HOL-wide newspaper, and the first paper fully endorsed and connected with HOL staff and the Head Office. |

July 16th has come and gone and the majority of people have finally read the book they were patiently waiting two years for. The question is, was it worth the wait? Now, I have heard several different opinions on this, with two main reactions. One, of course, is from those who thoroughly enjoyed the book and cried profusely at the end; the other from those who thought the book was a big disappointment and filled with nothing significant to the plot.

Registered in HOL. Check. Sorted into a house. Check. Registered on house’s forum as well as the HOL forum and office. Triple Check. As students from around the world become registered first years, it is important to take a moment to reflect on the unique experiences gained as a first year student here at HOL. From the get-go, students are inundated with groups they must join, house histories that they must become acquainted with, and questions that they undoubtedly have to ask. For those readers that are beyond their first year, they remember the confusion well. For those just starting theirs, the excitement has yet to wear off and classes haven’t even started. What are some names that they need to know? Where should they go to ask questions? How can they (not) get into trouble in the corridors and in Hogsmeade? |
